it's fanart.  it's also friday.  i guess that means i inadvertently participated in fanart friday ;)

at the very end of my CTN exploits for this year, i ran into the ULTRA-nice Scott Wiser, creator of the book.

the layouts are innovative, the story is unexpected, and the superheroes FAR from average.  Scott has a fresh take on a world dominated by spandex, where we find the lowest of the low rising up to save the day.
as an animator, Scott also brings a touch of whimsical flavor and some rad effects to help bring this story to life.

should be interesting to see what Scott's got in the works for his next project.  rock on, good sir.

DED DUMP #1 (12 days and going strong!!)

still hunting jobs.  i've created an atlatl for my stylus to see if it makes it easier to take down my prey..  haha.

meanwhile, in the wake of Inktober, i discovered my productivity dropped SIGNIFICANTLY.  it felt awful.  SO, i've committed to Draw.Every.Day - NO MATTER WHAT.  and you know what???  it's worth it.  here's what i've got so far (explanations found on my tumblr blog) :

Inktober has come and gone...  lots of fun this time around - helped me stay productive, develop some projects further, and have lots of fun with ink!  ...and slightly mimicking instagram photos, making some animated gifs, and showing a little love with some fan art here and there.  if you want explanations..  you're gonna have to dig through my tumblr or deviantart links on the sidebar --->

so.  i've actually been (moderately) obsessed with THIS SONG by Midicronica for about....  4 or 5 years??  recently decided to look for more of their music, and found some good ones.  but more importantly, found THIS MUSIC VIDEO...  it's like, some rad Japanese Halloween version of the Gorillaz or something..  not sure what it is, but there's just something really nostalgic about how it all feels to me...

Hot Blades through Moon Cheese II

this was for a warm-up/exercise thing i started while i was at Avalanche… a year and a half ago??? finally got around to dropping some colors on it..

the exercise was to take an old character design, and re-do it in “Baz” Barry Reynold's style. can’t find a good link to the stuff i was basing it off of back then.

some jet grind radio influence in there somewhere..  :]

inspired by the “sprite interpretations” from this Niklas Jansson guy.  also channeling my inner Matthew Armstrong (who first showed me this sprite interpretation stuff.  very fun!!  gotta do me some bad guys next..  and that blue blob dood that sold you cool stuff!  heh.)

played LOTS of Guardian Legend back in the day...   lots of good memories.  :]

i started this one up about a year ago - never got around to finishing for lots of reasons until just now.

originally the plan was for her to be a witch??  with like, candy and stuff coming out the back (hey, it was getting close to halloween)???  typing it out makes the idea sound incredibly lame to me now...  but i swear the image in my head looked cool. haha.
