finally got around to finishing this one - started it up 11/29/2011.  process in gif format this time instead - any process junkies out there have any opinion on gifs vs multiple still images they can flip back and forth from???  still can decide what i like better...  i'd rather just have people give me their psd files so i can dissect em myself ;)

this started out as a drawing game 2 years ago  (where you just take turns drawing one thing onto a silhouette) between me and my wife (back when she was in girlfriend form.)
to try and keep up with the tradition of the first christmas present i gave her, i thought i’d paint this…   also finally got around to finishing it :]

Satellite Soda DUMP

so.  there was this daily draw party going on over at satellite soda i thought i'd get in on.. tried pushing more story in (most of) my stuff to add more substance to the sketches.

for the last day, i tried to cram as many characters i came up with during the month as possible onto one page.  after doing a head count, still missing 26 (minus crowds).. haha.  definitely hope to bring some of these guys and their stories to life some day :]

messin' around with a sketch i did in a meeting..  was just gonna add some subtle shadows to a white background or something, and ended up taking it a little further.

skechezz!!

mostly doodles at work whenever i can sneak them in..  experimenting with how much occlusion shadow i can get away with in line drawings with out over-powering them.  may do something more with some of these in the future.

*note - breathing apparatus semi functional.  fish pump water over their gills through the mouth/jaw flap thing...  i think i can by-pass the jaw area, but maybe need a second compartment for filtering back water to be re-oxygenated or something.  

would be cool to do a line-up of more guys like this..  been thinking about doing a whale one - would be pretty fun to come up with a suit for that dood to be land-ready (apparently the reason they die on land is because 1. no longer weightless from being in water, so weight crushes their organs, and 2. blubber insulation for water causes them to over-heat when on land.)

the idea of character line-ups on a more massive scale is really interesting to me... example: break dance crews!! may have to do some more, and from like, other countries/time eras/planets and stuff.
